Domenico is currently the earliest Ruffini from whom we can prove our descent. Our only evidence on his life so far comes from the marriage certificate pictured to the right. Since his son Girolamo Ruffinu is married in Nule in 1790, we may suppose that Domenico was married a generation before, in the 1760s, and was therefore born a generation before that, in the 1730s or 1740s. Girolamo's marriage certificate calls Domenico "Dominico Ruffino" and gives his wife's name, Maria Giana. It describes them as "civitatis Sassari."
