Girolamo Ruffinu appears in the atti notarili of Ozieri ville in the year 1779 (entry C 107), stored in the state archives in Sassari. In that text, he buys two houses in Benetutti. He and the seller are described as "domiciliados en Benetuty" (living in Benetutti) and he is described as an "arbannil" (albanil: mason, builder, bricklayer).
He married Maria Masala in Nule in 1790. Nule's record of that marriage appears on two consecutive pages shown here on the right. Girolamo appears in the Nule "matricola" records for the first time in this same year, described in those records as a "maestre" or expert in some sort of skill. This record is also shown here, in the gallery below.
The record of this marriage tells us that Girolamo's parents were Domenico Ruffino and Maria Piana. Maria is described as being from Sassari, and Girolamo is described as residing in Benetutti ("in oppido Benettuti commorante"), a village just down the hill from Nule.
Girolamo's children from this marriage include Luigi Ruffinu, muratore and Giuseppe Ruffinu.
This gallery shows the records of Girolamo's family in the Nule village matricola records from 1790 to 1799. (No records were made for 1794.) Nule's matricola records from 1800 to 1834 do not appear to survive. When the records resume in 1835, Luigi is the head of the Ruffinu family in Nule. From this we may conclude that Girolamo died between 1799 and 1835, if he did not leave Nule in that period.
