In World War II, in 1943, he changed his name to Issac Solomonovich because he lost his passport and was through his son Arkadiy<nowiki>’</nowiki>s connections able to change information on the new one.  He evacuated from Krichev on 17 July 1941 with his wife to Taishet, where they stayed for a month.  Then Arkadiy found them and took them to Lower Tagil, Ural, where they stayed until the end of the war.  Issac worked for hire for his father.
