The son of Luther Hunt Johnson.

Delbert Johnson: So attested in the 1870 federal census. Delbert L. Johnson: So attested in the 1930 federal census.

1860: Delbert appears in his father's census entry, when the family lived Washington, Morrow County, Ohio.

1870: Delbert appears in the 1870 federal census entry from Pennsylvania, Beaver, Franklin, in which a 14 year old Delbert Johnson, born in Ohio, is listed as a farmhand under various members of the Jacob Wooster family, which name appears in Peggy's document collection throughout. See more on this entry under Loisa Jarrard. Jacob was a farmer with what looks like considerable wealth listed.

1880-1900: I do not see Delbert in the 1880 or the 1900 census.

1910: I see a doubtful entry of a Delbert born circa 1857 in Pennsylvania, listed in Horseheads, Chemung, NY.

1920: I do not see Delbert in the 1920 census.

1930: Delbert L. Johnson (the only source for this initial?) appears in the 1930 census at age 74. Born in Ohio and now in Pennsylvania, Allegheny, Dravosburg, District 568, he is listed as the husband of Elizabeth, father of Lois J., and living with his son-in-law George Smith. They are 44, 39, and 45 respectively. Lois J.'s parents were born in Ohio and PA respectively; George's both in PA, as was he; Elizabeth's both in PA, as was she; Delbert's in Connecticut (!) and Ohio. This would mean Luther was born in Connecticut and Loisa Jarrard in Ohio. Delbert's age, middle initial, and daughter's name in this entry satisfy me that we have a match here. This entry gives George's occupation as 'Clerk' in a 'Coal Mine Office" and lists 'None' as occupation for the rest.

ancestry.com family trees show a Delbert Johnson, 1856-1931, husband of an Elizabeth Kimmins, father of a Lois Johnson and Delbert Kimmins Johnson. Lois was born in Freeport PA circa 1886, Delbert Jr. circa 1888, and Delbert Sr. died in Elm Grove, WV.
