Carlo Luigi, son of Luigi Ruffinu, muratore, is not yet seen in the 1838 matricola from Nule, but is found in the 1848 matricola. The record of the birth of his daughter Giovanna in 1874 suggests that he was born in 1842.

In 1874, Carlo Luigi Ruffino appears in the Nule civic rolls, age 32, as a commerciante married to Elena Scangia, masaia at Monte Cobadina. The two have had a daughter named Giovanni Ruffino.

In 1876, Carlo Luigi Ruffino, age 33, a negoziante living on via Monte Cabadina, and Elena Scangia, have a son named Antonio Andrea Ruffino. A Masala and a pastore witness.

In 1877, the same couple have a daughter named Giovanna Luigia Ruffino. A shoemaker is a witness.

In 1879 the same couple have a son named Antonio Giuseppe Ruffino. A muratore and a carpenter witness.

In 1881, birth number 17 in the Nule civil records is to a 38-year old negoziante named Carlo Luigi Ruffino and Elena Scangia of a daughter named Francesca Ruffino.
